Welcome to Cublington

Cublington is an Anglo-Saxon name meaning ‘Cubbel’s Estate’. The C of E parish church of St Nicholas has unusual corbels, or stone brackets, featuring a man and a monkey. Nearby is The Beacon, a man-made hill, which was the motte of a small Norman castle.

The village moved location so by 1400, a new church has beenbuilt and the population were now living at the present site. The cottages in Ridings Way were known as East End, of the long gone village, for centuries afterwards, only petering out in the early 1900s.

With RAF Wing nearby during World War 2, and the military hospital on the east side of the village, Cublington’s pub was a popular destination. The Unicorn pub still runs today. The large, double-sided fireplace and traditional beams make it a quirky, characterful location to enjoy great food.

The Cricket Club has been playing in Cublington for over 150 years, since its first recorded match. There are also two tennis courts in the village. The Orchard Ground and Biggs Pavilion is a volunteer-run space, which can be rented for events as well as the site for village get togethers, like the summer fete. The Cublington Crier is the village newsletter where you can get updates on all the village’s activities.
